I am in my early-70s. About five years ago I was experiencing excessive dry skin and hair loss. I went to the doctor to see what might be wrong. She suggested a blood test to see if my thyroid was dysfunctional. It was. My family has a history of underactive (hypo-) thryroidism.
She put me on the drug Synthroid (sp?). I took it for almost 5 yrs. It cleared up the dry skin and I did not have hair loss any more. But I just never liked the idea of having to take prescription drugs. Then I learned about the essential oil of myrtle and how it might possibly help the body to balance an underactive thyroid. So I began applying a drop of Young Living’s myrtle oil, anointing my throat (thyroid area) with it every night. Soon I noticed a bit of skin irritation so I began diluting it with Young Living’s V-6 mixing oil. The skin irritation stopped. I quit taking the Synthroid in mid-2004.
I spend the winters in Texas and while there in January 2005, in just a general check-up of my carotid arteries with an ultrasound, nodules were found on my thyroid. The blood test five years ago would not have shown the nodules, of course. I think they were there all along. They measured them with the ultrasound. I brought the measurements home to the doctor in Des Moines.
He performed another ultrasound around May 2005. Reviewing the results, he stated that the nodules were actually smaller than when they were measured back in January. I have continued using myrtle. I have another ultrasound scheduled for August. My skin is still normal and my hair no longer falls out. Thank God for His natural plant oils! At my age and being on no drugs whatsoever is an excellent reason to praise God!

Two weeks ago I had the follow-up ultrasound. When they called to tell me the results, they said they must have made some mistake because they couldn’t find anything abnormal. So they scheduled another one. I suspected there was nothing wrong with the test, but they just wanted to run another one to be sure before they told me the good news. Sure enough, I just got back the results: the doctor said everything looks fine; there is nothing to worry about. I am so grateful to God for His provision of natural methods. I give Him the glory for my healing. Praise the Lord!
